PALM SUNDAY REFLECTION (Year A) [ 29 March 2026 ]
1. What is special about Palm Sunday?
Palm Sunday is different from other Sundays because it has two moods in one celebration:
• First, we remember Jesus entering Jerusalem with joy — people waved palms and shouted “Hosanna!”
• Then, we listen to the Passion (suffering) of Jesus.
It reminds us that life can change quickly — from happiness to suffering — but God is still in control.
2. Why did Jesus ride on a donkey?
Jesus chose a donkey, not a horse, because:
• A horse is for war and power
• A donkey is for peace and humility
Jesus shows us He is a humble King, not a king who comes to fight, but to bring peace and salvation.
3. Why did it seem like the donkey was already prepared?
In the Gospel, Jesus tells His disciples exactly where to find the donkey.
This shows:
• Jesus is in control of everything
• Nothing that happens (even His suffering) is by accident
• God already has a plan of salvation
4. Are the same people shouting “Hosanna” also shouting “Crucify Him”?
Maybe yes, maybe not all — but the message is clear:
People including us can change very quickly
• One moment they praise Jesus
• Another moment they reject Him
It is a reminder for us:
• Are we faithful only when things are good?
• Or do we stay with Jesus even when it is difficult.
5. Why do we read the Passion Gospel on this day?
Because Palm Sunday is the beginning of Holy Week.
The Church wants us to:
• Not only celebrate Jesus’ glory
• But also understand His suffering and sacrifice.
Without the Cross, there is no Resurrection.
Simple Message for Us
Palm Sunday teaches us:
• Follow Jesus not only in good times, but also in hard times.
• Be humble like Jesus.
• Trust God’s plan, even when we don’t understand.
• Stay faithful, not like the crowd that easily change.
Closing Reflection
Today we hold palms in our hands…
But the real question is:
Do we also carry Jesus in our hearts?
