Kinarut, Dec 10,…Carolling groups in St. Michael’s Penampang parish are now officially mandated to visit homes of parishioners in the district within its purview to spread the good news of the birth of Saviour, Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Wilfred Atin said this in his sermon during the Eucharistic celebration to launch the Carols by Candle lights Joy here at St. Augustine Church, Kinarut.
‘You are commissioned to herald of joy, the birth of the Saviour and this is what you need to remember’ Fr. Atin underscored when emphasizing on the real mission of the carollers. Equipping them with inspirational journey exemplified by then St. John the Baptist in delivering the powerful message of repentance and forgiveness to prepare for the coming of the Messiah.
He also encouraged the youth to be strong enough whenever they are facing challenges from this joyful journey but tiring in some cases along the ways. May the holy spirit will always guide and strengthen them throughout these coming period weeks of joy and love as spreading the words of God through songs of carolling is also part of their evangelization activities to their respective community especially who are now week in faith.
More than two hundred carollers from the entire eleven zones in the parish had been commissioned during Eucharistic Celebration. After the Mass, the congregations adjourned to the adjacent extended church hall for the enlightening Carols by candle lights performances. The essence of the show is to highlight substances of holiness in accordance with the scripture’s understanding from many major related chronological events heading to the real meaning of Christmas celebrations.
Gospel reading first by zones representatives followed by Carol singing with the harmonic voicing performance by the parish centralized choir members with alternate arrangement ranging from the stories of the ‘Annunciation’ through the ‘Birth of Christ’ and towards the spreading of the ‘Good News’. Popular Christmas songs namely, ‘Hark The Herald Angels Sing’, ‘Insan Sodop (Noel)’, ‘Joy To The World’ are some of the most mesmerizing atmosphere seen from the faithful feeling of joy evident from the reactions and participation by about 300 crowd. Also in attendance assistant priests Rev. Fr. Gilbert Marcus, Rev. Fr. Andrew Kim & Rev. Fr. Wilson Francis.
