Kaamatan Joy 2023 for St. Michael’s Penampang & St. Augustine’s Kinarut Parishes will be on the 4 June at St. Marcellinus, Church, Minintod
Parish Kaamatan 2023 Eucharistic Celebration for St. Michael’s Parish, Penampang will be held at St. Marcellinus Church of Minintod zone on the 4th June starting at 11 am and thereafter the cultural festivities at the attaching open hall of the church backyard open compound. The celebrations also include participation of former zones of Kinarut and Labak from the newly established parish of St. Augustine, Kinarut.
Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Wilfred Atin announced this during the parish pastoral, Finance & Property held its 1st meeting on the 5 May 2023, 8.00 pm at St. Marcellinus church hall to select the organizing committee for this auspicious annual church calendar program.
The committee has unanimously appointed Cat. Eligius Samuel to lead the task as the organizing Chairman while the host Minintod zone Chairman Mr. Michael George was automatically assigned as Deputy Chairman. It has been a practice of collaboration between the parish and zone pastoral committee to ensure success of the celebration.
Bible reading competition in Kadazan language and traditional cultural sports are among the main compulsory events were being highlighted in the discussions.
Traditional cultural sports competition was also decided to be held earlier on the 27 May 2023(Saturday) at the same venue with registration starting from 7.30 am. Popular events including Momolostik(catapult), Rampanau race and many more interesting events will be participated during that day. The Kaamatan festivities joy is expected to draw huge crowd as always with more than 500 congregations where the committee also decided to arrange special event to honour the contribution of Monsignor Emeritus Rev. Fr. Primus Jouil being among the earliest ordained Kadazan Priests and vocal advocates of Kadazan culture preservation in the Catholic faith…..JJ/SoCcom Penampang
