24 August 2025 – Weekly Sharing
This Sunday’s readings remind us that God’s plan of salvation extends to all peoples and nations. In the first reading, the prophet Isaiah proclaims God’s promise: “I am coming to gather all nations and tongues, and they shall see my glory.” This shows us that God’s love is universal, and every person has a place in His plan. Some will even be chosen to serve Him, highlighting that mission is at the heart of God’s people.
The responsorial psalm reflects this with the response : “Go out to the whole world and proclaim the Good News.” As baptized Christians, this mission is entrusted not only to priests or religious, but to all of us. Each of us is called to share the Gospel through our words, actions, and daily witness.
In the second reading, the letter to the Hebrews reminds us that God’s discipline, though challenging, is an expression of His love. Life’s struggles are not signs of His absence but opportunities to grow in faith, endurance, and holiness.
The Gospel gives us a clear challenge. Jesus tells us to “strive to enter by the narrow door.” It is not enough to simply claim to know Him; discipleship requires humility, faithfulness, and perseverance. God is indeed gathering people from every corner of the world into His kingdom, but entering requires true commitment.
God’s invitation is open to all. He calls us to be part of His people by embracing His love, accepting His discipline, and walking faithfully on the narrow path of discipleship. May we live our faith sincerely so that we may be gathered into the great banquet of His kingdom. AMEN.
