Solemnity Of The Nativity Of The Lord
1st Reading : Isaiah 9:1-7 Psalm : 95:1-3.11-13.27
2nd Reading : Titus 2:11-14 Gospel : Luke 2:1-14
The Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord or Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus, the fulfillment of God’s promise of salvation. The theme “A Saviour Is Born for Us” reminds us of God’s immense love and the hope brought through the Incarnation.
In Isaiah 9:1-7, the prophet foretells a child who will bring light, peace, and justice to a world in darkness. This promise is fulfilled in Jesus, the Prince of Peace, who heals and restores humanity.
Psalm 95 invites us to praise God with joy, for the Saviour has come to renew the earth and bring righteousness.
The second reading (Titus 2:11-14) emphasizes that Christ’s birth brings salvation and calls us to live godly lives, reflecting His grace and love. The Gospel of Luke recounts the humble birth of Jesus in a manger, witnessed by shepherds, symbolizing God’s solidarity with the lowly and His universal offer of salvation.
The message of Christmas inspires us to rejoice in Jesus’ birth, share the good news of salvation, and embrace humility and peace in our lives. His coming is not only a historical event but a transformative gift, calling us to live with love, compassion, and faith.
This Christmas, let us respond to God’s grace by living as witnesses of His light and sharing His peace with others. Truly, A Savior Is Born for Us!
Merry Christmas.
